Fix Aboyne Bridge Community Action Group

--------------------

****LATEST NEWS****

-------------------

Latest From Mid Deeside Community Council.

1. Aberdeenshire Council has set up a central repository for information on the bridge closure. https://engage.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/aboyne-bridge...
2. There is a “subscribe” feature within the above website to be notified when information is posted. Only official updates from Aberdeenshire Council will be posted there. Community Councils will put updates on local noticeboards for anyone not online.
3. Aberdeenshire Council has provided a single point of contact for queries regarding the bridge (marr@aberdeenshire.gov.uk).
4. Consulting Engineers have been appointed. Based on their initial investigations, a testing and inspection plan has been produced. This plan forms part of a tender which is currently with specialist testing companies (who will do the physical testing work). Responses to that tender are due back in 2 weeks.
5. When the physical testing work starts, access for pedestrians and cyclists will be restricted to the bridge pavements. We have requested that ramps be placed at each end of the pavements for easier access.
6. During the testing work, it is likely that parking on the South side of the bridge will be reduced. The concrete barriers currently in-situ will need to be moved for equipment access. Aberdeenshire Council is aware of the importance of this parking space to the local community; as much as possible will remain.
7. Potholes and other road defects must be reported using the reporting tool on the Aberdeenshire Council website. https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/.../report-a-road-fault/ Local social media sites are useful in alerting other motorists, but these sites are not monitored by Aberdeenshire Council.
8. The Roads Team will do a general check on all the diversion road signage to ensure it is accurate.

Aboyne Bridge, a vital lifeline connecting our communities, has been condemned and deemed no longer fit to carry motor vehicles.
